Hike: Huang Di Dian 皇帝殿 (Updated April 2012)

174600_39971825876_322742_nThis is one of the best top three hikes to do around Taipei area. I highly recommend to take a taxi to reach the entrance pointed on this map, so as to avoid the very long staircase at the beginning of the traditional route. Beyond this, there are a couple of technical sections with metal ladders, but nothing too extreme (easier than Wuliaojian and Choutoushan).

GPX: We don’t link to GPX files directly anymore since links get broken whenever Wandermap updates their system. Instead you need to look on the Wandermap page, below the description of the hike, in the right corner for a “Export GPS Data” button. It will then download automatically.

  1. I wouldn’t really recommend doing this extended hike at Huangdidian. The normal hike contains most of the interesting parts, and this one is mostly just tedious after that point.

    • I’ll leave it online with your warning until we get a better record of the normal hike. The only time we did it in full, we exited through another valley behind the two mountains. So i wouldn’t really recommend doing it without some sort of guiding.

  2. Post and route have been updated to a clean itinerary. It’s now good to follow.
