Hike: Taoyuan Valley (not including the Caoling trail)

Route and description by Matteo. Photo by Nicole Scott.

This absolutely spectacular hike on a mountain ridge overlooking the ocean starts at the top of the Caoling Hystorical trail, that you can reach from either Fulong or Gongliao. Alternatively, you can follow the road that starts a few hundred meters north of Dali train station (behind the big temple). In either case, take the sharply climbing trail on your right (if you come from Fulong, left if you come from Dali) to start the Taoyuan Valley hike.

The recorded route ends at Daxi Fishermen Market, where you can have dinner. Daxi train station is about 1.5 km south, following the main road.

The hike is 11km in total and includes a lot of stairs.

GPX: We don’t link to GPX files directly anymore since links get broken whenever Wandermap updates their system. Instead you need to look on the Wandermap page, below the description of the hike, in the right corner for a “Export GPS Data” button. It will then download automatically.
